After staying at W Bangkok and visiting W Kuala Lumpur, it is safe to say that W hotels have become one of my favorite hotels worldwide. I was keen on staying at yet another stylish W property, so I was pretty excited when I discovered that Amsterdam is home to a W property.
Quick Overview
What sets W hotel apart from other accommodations is its strong affinity for design, fashion and music, which is noticeable in their innovative rooms. W Amsterdam is located in the city centre of Amsterdam, it’s in walking distance to Amsterdam Central, Anne Frank House as well as Dam Square, Amsterdam’s main square. The hotel is split into two buildings: banks and exchange. We entered the exchange building and an elevator took us to the top, where check in is happening at W Lounge. While a staff member completed the check in process and gives us a quick details about the property, we enjoyed a cool glass of champagne.
The Marvelous Exchange Suite
We had the pleasure to stay in the Marvelous Suite, which is spread out on two levels. Upon entering the suite, one will find a bar that is leading up to the living and seating area. To the right, there is a guest bathroom and stairs are taking you to the second floor, where the bedroom and the main bathroom are situated. The suite features coffee and tea making facilities, Marshall wireless speaker, two TVs and a mini bar. However, my favorite feature was without a doubt the projector screen that is the ideal spot for a cozy movie night. How amazing is that?! W hotels are always very innovative, when it comes to incorporating cool technological features into their rooms.
The main bathroom is spacious in size and is perfectly outfitted with a huge rain shower as well as several BLISS spa amenities. Nothing is missing here!
Overall, the suite is bright thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows. The interior of the suite has a modern and sleek look with colors of grey and splashes of bright red. Its stylish appearance is in accordance with the decor of the property.
Breakfast
Due to the current situation, breakfast was served in our room. So, in the morning we would call room service and order items from the menu. The freshly made breakfast would be delivered, so that we could enjoy breakfast straight from the comfort of our room. Fresh fruits, delicious bagels and pastries and eggs preferred to our preferences were part of our daily breakfast routine. Make sure to order the homemade poffertjes, which are Dutch pancakes, and soo good!
Service & Facilities
W Amsterdam offers its guests several dining outlets such as the steakhouse MR PORTER or THE DUCHESS that serves Mediterranean cuisine. Guests can unwind at AWAY Spa, which offers a heated indoor pool, a sauna and steam room. It’s the ideal place to relax after a busy day in the city. During summer, W’s rooftop pool called WET deck is a true eye catcher that overlooks the royal palace. I cannot imagine a better place for a hot and sunny day in Amsterdam. In addition, there is a 24 hours fully-equipped gym, in case you’re feeling active. W Lounge is the perfect spot to grab a drink and watch the sunset. All in all, W Amsterdam provides many great facilities that make it difficult to actually leave the hotel.
If you’re looking for a centrally-located, trendy and luxurious accommodation that is more than just a hotel, then W Amsterdam is the one for you. The friendly staff, its super stylish interior and the cool and distinctive amenities such as WET DECK and the innovative room features make it an unforgettable accommodation and experience. My fiancé and I felt very welcome and our suite felt more like home than just a regular hotel room. I would definitely stay again at W Amsterdam, when returning to Amsterdam.
Thank you to W Amsterdam for hosting me! The opinions expressed on this blog are always my own.
