It’s time to reflect over the past year. 2016 has been a whirlwind year to say the least. From living abroad to exploring a new continent and making countless new travel memories in between. I have been busy chasing adventures, dreaming big and making the most out of each moment. Like last year, I will present you my favorite travel memories of the year. Let’s get started!
1. Exploring Bangkok
The most exciting adventure of this year started already in January. My boyfriend and I traveled to Thailand for the first time. Our first stop: Bangkok. There is so much to explore in this buzzing city. From eating delicious street food, to marvel at the Grand Palace and shopping at the Chatuchak Market, surviving crazy tuk tuk rides and ending the night at one of the many roof top bars. Bangkok was an exciting time!
2. Strolling around Lake Bled
During the summer, I’ve traveled to Slovenia, one of the most underrated countries in Europe. Its pristine nature, the hospitable locals and its charming capital are only some of the things that make Slovenia such a beautiful country. One of my favorite travel memories from my trip to Slovenia, was the day trip to Lake Bled. Lake Bled looks truly like a place sprung from a fairytale. It’s a picture perfect lake amidst lush greenery with a medieval castle on top of a mountain. A European fairytale world.

3. Spending my birthday in Venice
I couldn’t have wished for a better birthday! I spend the day getting lost in the endless alleyways of Venice, eating pizza and sipping cocktails overlooking the canals during the sunset with my love by my side. Pure bliss!
4. Island hopping in Thailand
When thinking about Thailand, I can’t miss to talk about all the beautiful beach gems that we got to visit. Imagine crystal clear emerald water and white sandy beaches surrounded by lime stone cliffs. My favorite spots were Krabi, Phi Phi Island and the Similan Islands. Each of these places is unique and I can recommend every single one of them.

5. Having a colorful day in Burano
Ever since I saw a picture of the colorful town of Burano on Pinterest, I put it mentally on my list of places that I want to visit. While traveling to Venice this summer, I got on a boat and visited the most colorful little island in Italy. Rainbow hued houses are arranged in rows along small canals. One of the most cheerful places that I have visited this year!

6. Living in Istanbul
This list wouldn’t be complete without including one of my favorite places in the world: Istanbul. After moving there to study abroad in 2015, I called this city home for almost one year. I can truly say that I’ve left my heart in this buzzing city. Istanbul is full of history, contrasts, hidden gems and so much more. If I could suggest you only one place for your travel bucket list 2017, then it would be Istanbul!
Thank you for following my travels around the world and being part of the adventure! Let’s see what travels 2017 will have in store for us!
