There is no other skyline in the world like the New York City skyline! Whether you see it from the window of the plane, in between the concrete jungle or from the Hudson River, the skyline leaves every visitor impressed. During my trip to the city, I was able to experience a night aboard the Hudson’s at Pier 81, a casual dinner cruise along the Manhattan skyline.
We were welcomed on board of the Hudson’s at Pier 81 cruise by the friendly staff and escorted to our table, which was already set for the evening. Shortly after, our waitress introduced herself and helped us choose a wine from the vast selection. The service was courteous and impeccable at all times. Our tickets allowed us to choose between different options of wine, beer, champagne and soft drinks during the whole evening. After quickly studying the menu, we ordered our appetizers, the main dish and dessert.
The appetizer was my favorite and I am still craving that truffle burrata. So good! As our main dish, we chose the steak (for the boyfriend) and fish (for me). Both meals were rather mediocre. Last but not least, we had a chocolate lava cake and a delicious cheesecake. The wines that our waitress had recommended suited our preferences and were tasty. Overall, we had a pleasant and enjoyable dinner experience.
The interior of the ship has an elegant and modern look. The outside deck had a hip vibe with chains of lights, an outside bar and seating. Throughout the evening a DJ was entertaining the guests. Everyone was clearly having a good time and relishing the whole experience.
The sun was slowly setting and the sky was filled with pink and yellow hues, when the boat boast a magnificent view with the Statue of Liberty on one side and the famous New York skyline on the other side. This exact moment the song ‘Empire State of mind’ by Alicia Keys started to play and the night couldn’t get more magical. It might sound like such a NYC cliché, but I am sure that I was not the only one with goosebumps.
Being it our first visit to New York, this experience was definitely one of our highlights. If you’re visiting the concrete jungle for the first time, or even the second or third, and you’re looking for a unique experience, then I can only recommend that dinner cruise. Cheers to an unforgettable and wonderful experience in the city that never sleeps. New York, you have my heart!
