“A Sunday well spend brings a week full of content.”
Sundays are for sleeping in, for long brunches and for strolling around in the Mauerpark. It is one of the most famous parks in Berlin and the main reason are the various activities that take place there on every Sunday. Don’t miss spending some time at Mauerpark, if you have the opportunity! The park is located between the subway stations Bernauer Straße and Eberswalder Straße in Mitte and is really easy to reach.
The Flea Market
The market does not only sell second hand clothing, but also bikes, furniture, vintage clothes, jewelry, antiques and even small designers sell their clothes their. So there is a lot of variety! You can find great bargains and sometimes little treasure, if you keep an eye out. Make sure to bargain as most people will give you a better price. The flea market starts to open at around 7 am and ends at around 6 pm. Oh and don’t forget to bring cash with you!
Quick Tip: Come early, if you are interested to get the best picks on your hand.
The Food
I love to try different kinds of street food as you may have already guessed. You can eat yourself around the market because there are a lot of choices to make. Do you want to try traditional German sausages or Turkish food? Crêpes or waffles for dessert? And if you’re vegan or vegetarian then there are great options for you, too. I would recommend you to get something that you haven’t tried before and I also really like the fresh pressed juices. Yummy!
Quick Tip: Mauerpark is surrounded by a lot of great cafés and restaurant, if you rather want to sit down and enjoy the atmosphere from there.
The Entertainment
You will already hear the live music before entering the park. Different kind of musicians can be found everywhere in the park. Sometimes you will discover magician perform as well. My personal highlight is the karaoke that takes place on the stage outside of the flea market. It usually starts at around 3 pm, everyone can participate and it’s for free. It is a lot of fun to watch and the tribune gets really crowded (especially in summer), so come early enough to get great seats. The park also offers a field to play basketball.
Quick Tip: During summer you can call your friends, grab a blanket and have a barbecue party!
