I am always looking for unique places in Berlin. Shiso Burger is the latest edition on my list. At first glance it becomes clear that Shiso Burger is not your typical burger joint next door. Imagine combining an American burger place with good Asian cuisine. Voilà, you have a restaurant that is one of a kind in Berlin. Sounds out of the ordinary? It is, but in a good way!
Besides your “typical” Ham- and Cheeseburger, they also serve you Asian inspired burgers. Their exciting Korean burgers include the salmon burger with teriyaki sauce (which is by the way my favorite) and the burger with bulgogi (a Korean dish that consists of grilled marinated beef). For all my veggo friends out there: there are vegetarian burgers on the menu, too.
When your burger arrives in the bamboo steamer baskets, you will notice that the buns differ from your normal American burger. Those are homemade, fluffy buns sprinkled with black sesame seeds. Yummy!
As sides I can really recommend their homemade fries and the sweet potato fries. Of course, you can also choose edamame and kimchi (kimchi is hot pickled cabbage) like in a true Asian restaurant.
Their burgers are freshly made and surely one of a kind. Try for yourself and you will understand why this place is buzzing.
Be sure to make a reservation especially on a the weekend, because this little place gets crowded quickly. I will definitely be back!
