Traveling the world itself is an amazing experience, but exploring it with your significant other makes the journey even better. After traveling to several countries with my boyfriend over the years, he has quickly became my favorite travel partner. Luckily, he has the same thirst for adventure and love for traveling as me. If you are not convinced to book a trip as a couple yet, then here are my top reasons why couples should travel together!
1. You create memories
I believe in the saying ‘collect moments, not things’ and try to live by these words. So as a couple, spending your money on traveling rather than on materialistic things is one of the best investments that you can make. You will cherish the memories that you and your partner build along the way forever.
2. You will face challenges
Occasionally, things do go wrong when traveling. Getting lost in the streets of Rome, being sick in Egypt, running out of cash in Thailand, you name it. In these situations you depend on each other and need to solve the issues as a team. The challenges that you have faced will only strengthen your relationship (and they will make for some great travel stories).
3. You get to know each other better
There is no better way to really get to know somebody than by leaving your comfort zone and spending 24/7 with them. You will experience the bad and the good when traveling and exactly these kind of situations will show someones ‘true colors’. With each trip, you will learn more and more about your partner.
4. You build trust
Trust is the basis for any relationship and there is no better way to build trust than by traveling together. When you’re out in the world and experiencing things for the first time, then you have to rely on each other. When things go wrong, you need to trust your partner. There are countless situations in which trust is build and traveling will provide them.
5. Experiences are best when shared
When looking back on my favorite travel memories, I am happy to say that my boyfriend was right next to me and shared the experiences. From swimming with dolphins in the Red Sea, to hot air ballooning over Cappadocia and bathing an elephant in Thailand: these amazing experiences were even better because I was able to share them with somebody.
What do you think? Do you travel with your significant other?
