What I really love about Berlin is the national and cultural diversity that it has to offer. People from all over the world live here and it benefits the city in various ways. One of them is food of course. Who doesn’t love Asian and Italian food? If you are a bit more adventours then this is exactly for you!
Yesterday, my boyfriend and me went to Markthalle Neun in Kreuzberg to participate in an event called ” Street Food Thursday”, which takes place weekly from 5 to 10 pm. When entering the building, you will first notice crowds roaming around, talking in different languages and obviously eating. The smell of barbecue, Asian food and fresh made waffles can be sensed while strolling through the alleys of booths.
The assortment of food is great: Mexican tacos, Spanish tapas, Belgian waffles, traditional German food and even vegan food. There is heaps to choose from and food provided for everyones taste and preferences. After checking out all the offers, we decided to try Taiwanese burgers. The line of the booth revealed that this is one of the popular choices and it did not disappoint us! If you like to try out a different kind of Asian food, than you can go wrong with this one.
Changing continents in a few steps: from Asia to South America. Next, we got some Brazilian tapioca, which is a gluten free tortilla stuffed with savory or sweet filling. The next time, I want to try the sweet version.
As a dessert, I had an American ice cream cookie sandwich. Yumm! The selection of desserts includes cheesecakes, waffles, pastries and more. Heaven for every person with a sweet tooth!
I recommend every foodie and every lover of new experiences to visit the market, if you’re in Berlin. You will love it! Try as many dishes as possible, especially dishes that you don’t know. The crowd gets really big after 6 pm, so make sure to come early to get some seats and to avoid long lines.
