In January I had the pleasure to visit Prague for the second time. My first trip to this charming city was in September, so that I was excited to see how Prague changes during the colder months of the year. However, there was one thing that was on my list of things to do: I want to eat the best trdelnik in Prague!
Trdelnik (also called trdlo) is a traditional bohemian pastry that is crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Before baking it over fire it gets sprinkled with a mixture of nuts, sugar and vanilla. It is kinda like a sweet bread roll and best served when it’s still warm.
On the way to Prague, my boyfriend and me promised each other that we were on a mission to find the yummiest trdelnik of Prague. During our first trip in Prague we found a little café in the old town that served this little goodness. We were hooked after the first bite and wanted to come back the next day. But the bakery had somehow disappeared and sadly we were not able to find it. We tried some other cafés, but nothing could compare to our first trdelnik. So during our second trip we were on mission to find this little bakery. Well, I can happily say that we succeeded.
Of course I have to share with you where you can find this delicious spot in Prague, so that you can enjoy the best trdelnik for yourself. The bakery is called Remeslná Pekárna Krusta and does not only offer fresh baked trdlos, but other baked good as well. Krusta is located in Praha 1. We found it on our way from the Astronomical Clock to the Charles Bridge.
Dobrou chut’!

Yum! I tried trdelnik this past summer but I was a bit disappointed since it wasn’t very fresh 🙁 Gives me incentive to visit Prague again! And I had the most amazing Czech dish in Prague… I can’t remember what it was called but it was basically a meat log stuffed with different kinds of meat, hard boiled egg, pickles and more. It was soooo good.

Trdelniks are the best when freshly baked 🙂 But happy to hear about your other great experience with Czech food!

Absolutely love trdelniks! I get one every time I got to Czech (which is pretty often since I live close by in Germany!). I’ll have to try this place. Have you had the ones filled with ice cream? The line is always ridiculously long for that one!
