Tokyo has always been on the top of my bucket list, so I was overly excited to visit this vibrant place for the very first time. Checking into Andaz Tokyo contributed to my Japanese experience by offering an ideal base for my adventures in Tokyo. If you’re looking for a luxurious Japanese-inspired property, then read this review of my stay at Andaz Tokyo Toranomon Hills!
Quick Overview
Andaz Tokyo Toranomon Hills is a luxurious lifestyle hotel, which incorporates Japanese elements throughout its property. The sophisticated and contemporary interior reflects the Japanese culture and tradtions in several ways. Washi paper and walnut-colored wood is present in the rooms as well as in the lobby. Vast windows allow day light to come in and ensure a bright and airy feel.
As the name suggests Andaz Tokyo is situated in Toranomon Hills, a skyscraper complex, which can be found between the Imperial Palace and the Tokyo Tower and near the Ginza district and Tokyo Station. An ideal location for first time and returning visitors to Tokyo!
The lobby can be found on the 51st floor, as Andaz Tokyo is located on the 47th-52nd floors of the Toranomon Hills skyscraper. You will notice that there is no regular check in desk, but instead there is an island, which gives that space a very modern feel. Above that is an impressive piece of Japanese art hanging on the wall. The check in process took place at the lounge with complimentary drinks promptly served while the staff took care of our luggage. The sleek lounge offers guests not only space to relax in between but also snacks, drinks and a happy hour free of charge. Such a nice touch!
The Room
When I was stepping into our room on the 50th floor, I was more than surprised about the actual size and the layout of the room. The apartment-like room was very spacious, which is not granted given the limited space in Tokyo. Our luggage was already waiting for us and we were welcomed into our room by a plate of delicious fresh strawberries. Talk about great service!
The Andaz Park View King room is perfectly outfitted with the most comfy king bed (one of the most important attributes of a good room!), a working desk, a big couch, a Nespresso coffee machine, tea set, Bose bluetooth speaker, a spacious wardrobe and a TV. There is nothing missing here!
In addition, all rooms enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi as well as complimentary non-alcoholic drinks and Japanese snacks, which will come useful after a day of exploring Tokyo.
One of my favorite features of the room was the complimentary mobile phone that guests are able to take with them while exploring the city. The phone is enabled to make phone calls and has internet access. It’s the ideal gadget to explore Tokyo without having to worry about directions or internet access.
Another favorite was without a doubt the incredible view over Tokyo from the comfort of our room. The panoramic view was the perfect location for viewing sunrise and sunset. Waking up to that breathtaking view put immediately a smile on my face. This makes waking up super easy!
The bathroom is just as spacious in size. It features a rain shower, a Japanese-style deep soaking bathtub, a modern Japanese toilet (everyone is curious about them!), complimentary amenities, robes, slippers and a yukata (a Japanese robe).
Breakfast
Breakfast is being served at ‘The Tavern – Grill & Lounge’ on the 51st floor. The buffet styled breakfast offers guests Western dishes as well as Japanese specialities. The open kitchen provides an egg station, where eggs are being prepared to your preferences. Besides that, fresh fruits and juices, cereals, warm and cold dishes, meats, cheeses and baked goods are present. Everything was fresh and tasty. You will also notice the Japanese-inspired interior during breakfast, as guests can choose between different pieces of beautiful Japanese tableware. The best way to enjoy breakfast is, of course, by sitting right at the window and overlooking Tokyo’s skyline.
Service and Facilities
Being a luxury property Andaz Tokyo is definitely not short of services and facilities. The AO Spa at Andaz Tokyo offers its guest personalized treatments. This means that your spa experience is addressed to your needs and preferences.
Next to the spa, guests can find the swimming pool and the fully equipped gym. However, this is not your regular wellness area. Whether you are rejuvenating during a spa treatment, taking a dip in the pool or sweating it out in the gym, you will do this while always gazing over Tokyo’s skyline.
Guests have several options, if they want to dine in. On the 52nd floor, the hotel’s authentic and cozy (there are only eight seats, so be quick!) sushi restaurant called simply the SUSHI can be found. Next to the lobby, The Tavern – Grill & Lounge offers guests grilled specialites featuring local Japanese ingredients. The burger restaurant Bebu and a pastry shop are located on the first floor.
The Rooftop Bar on the 52nd floor provides indoor and open-air seating. So, even if you’re not a guest of Andaz Tokyo, make sure to take advantage of the spectacular and panoramic view over Tokyo’s skyline and pay the bar a visit. The highest stand-alone chapel in Tokyo is also situated on the rooftop, in case you want to make your wedding extra special.
Whether you’re in Tokyo for leisure or business and whether it’s your first or third visit to Tokyo, Andaz Tokyo Toranomon Hills should be your top accommodation choice. The friendly staff is eager to help you at any time with any matter while the comfortable rooms and the available facilities make it actually difficult to leave the hotel. No matter where you are spending your time at the hotel, you will undoubtedly know that you are currently in Japan thanks to the chic Japanese-influenced interior and, of course, that view. I cannot wait to return to Tokyo and check into Andaz Tokyo for a second time!
Thank you to Andaz Tokyo for hosting me! The opinions expressed on this blog and the photos are as always my own.
