At the end of my Thailand round trip, I was back in Bangkok for a couple of days. My last accommodation was the W Hotel that is centrally located in the bustling district of Silom. When I entered the W Bangkok for the first time, I couldn’t contain my excitement and was instantly looking forward to my stay. If you are looking for a stylish luxury hotel in Bangkok, then here is a full review of my stay at the W Hotel in Bangkok.
A Quick Overview
The W Bangkok is a design-led lifestyle hotel that is the ideal accommodation for young and trendy jet settters. It is situated in a 31-floor glass tower with a century-old European-inspired heritage building right next to it. Talk about a contrast!
When stepping into the hotel you will be welcomed by the huge sparkling letter “W” and a lively atmosphere in the lobby. The staff took immediately care of my baggage and within a couple of minutes the check in process was completed and I was ready to check out my room.
The Design Concept
The W Bangkok is a stylish and contemporary hotel that shows its passion for fashion, music and entertainment throughout its concept. It incorporates Thai traditions and culture into their modern cutting-edge design representing the fusion of Bangkok’s past and present.
For example, the reception wall shows an impressive bejeweled image of a phoenix and a tiger that represent the good luck symbols of power and strength, engaged in a battle. There were about 80,000 crystals used to create this artwork.
I also loved the colorful light installation at the lifts! There are 800 different kinds of lights that are typically found on Thailand’s legendary cabs, which are called tuk tuks. The dazzling street lights are definitely an eye-catcher!
The Room
Right after check in, I took the elevator to the 20th floor and stepped into the Spectacular Room, that I had the pleasure to stay in. This modern and stylish room measures 43 sqm and will amaze you with a magnificent view over Bangkok! I couldn’t stop admiring it!
Every detail of the room matched perfectly the design of the hotel. The interior is modern and stylish with a little Thai twist. On the bed laid a pair of shiny golden Muay Thai boxing gloves, the bedding was embellished with Thai patterns and the curtains of the bath room had flames on them, that are usually found on Muay Thai boxing shorts.
The room was well-appointed with a comfortable bed (I had the best night of sleep ever in Thailand!), chrome furniture, a big work desk, a minibar and in-room technology including a flat screen television, a docking station, a sound bar system and high-speed Wi-Fi. Nothing missing here!
The bath room is separated by a translucent, colored glass plank that creates a playful touch. As the room itself, the bath room is quite spacious and modern-looking as well. The hotel provides luxurious amenities, so that you can fully enjoy your stay. Another favorite feature of mine was the freestanding bath tub. It doesn’t get better than that!
The Breakfast
Breakfast was served each morning in the Kitchen Table, the main restaurant at W Bangkok. The breakfast buffet had a big variety of Western and Asian style dishes. I especially loved the selection of fresh fruits and the homemade sushi (I mean, who can say no to sushi!?).
The Kitchen Pantry, which is a bakery and cafe right next to the Kitchen Table, also offered delicious pastries with some gluten free options.
The best way to enjoy your breakfast is by sitting on the W Terrace and overlooking the stunning view of the House of Sathorn.
Facilities and Services
The W Bangkok offers it’s visitors all the facilities that you would expect from a luxury hotel. The WET Deck is the hotel’s outdoor pool that you can enjoy 24/7. Have a look at it at night, it resembles a sparkling star sky in the dark!
Next to the pool area is the FIT Gym, which is quipped with the latest fitness gear and also open 24/7. If you need to detox and rejuvenate after a long-haul flight or after a night out in Bangkok, then the Away Spa has got you covered! It features a Hammam, Jacuzzi, Steam Room, Sauna and the Style Lab Beauty Salon.
The trendy WOOBAR on the ground floor will ensure you to have a great night in. Every night a DJ spins the latest beats here while you can enjoy a drink from the W mixologists.
Another place to enjoy some drinks and have a great evening with some friends is the beautiful House on Sathorn, that used to be the Russian embassy. This colonial mansion is as luxurious as the W Hotel itself while offering a nostalgic vibe. If you are planning on having artisanal Asian-inspired cuisine and cocktails in a magnificent setting, then this is the place to go!
The W Hotel in Bangkok is the perfect choice, if you are looking for a trendy luxury hotel that offers a convenient location, beautiful design and an extremely charming and cool atmosphere. The stunning view of Bangkok from the rooms and the staff, who is always eager to help and assist you, are what make the hotel extra special. I have to admit that my stay made me a W Bangkok lover and I can say that I truly enjoyed each second of my stay.
Thank you to the W Hotel Bangkok for hosting me! The opinions expressed on this blog are always my own.
